Simultaneous Translation

Simultaneous interpreting involves listening to, comprehending, and instantly translating the speaker’s statements into another language. This process is most often applied during larger conferences and international meetings when there is a need for understanding in two or more languages. This form of translation occurs in real-time. One advantage of simultaneous translation is in that ensures an uninterrupted experience for all involved. Another advantage of simultaneous interpreting is that it allows for multiple languages to be used, giving participants the opportunity to choose their preferred language. Simultaneous interpretation applies to events such as:

  • Conferences
  • Symposia
  • Executive Training Programmes
  • Large Presentations

Consecutive interpretation

Consecutive interpretation is a process whereby the interpreter translates the source-language spoken once the speaker has finished speaking. This means that the interpreter listens to a section of speech and then relays what was said into the target language. Consecutive interpreting is common in formal situations such as court proceedings, small conferences/meetings or panel discussions.
If you wish to organise interactive events that engage your audience, consecutive interpretation may be preferable to simultaneous for the following:

  • Lectures
  • Training events
  • Interviews
  • Business meetings
  • Panel discussions

Proofreading

All of our translations are subject to review. What does this mean? This means that at Speak., we apply the 4-eye principle to every document that we send to our clients. A text will be looked at by at least 2 people, the translator and our in-house reviewer, prior to being delivered to our clients. This includes all certified translation as well, in all languages, no exceptions.

We’re happy to proofread any document, even if we didn’t translate it. Our proofreaders are linguists with mother tongue command of the target language (Serbian, English, German, Portuguese, Arabic, Russian, Hungarian native speakers) and fluency in the source language.
We strongly recommend that you include proofreading as part of your translation process, particularly where legal documentation is in question, when the choice of wording may be a critical factor as well as those texts that will appear in public and have a direct impact on your company’s image.

Our linguists have experience in proofing government policies, reports and other official documentation, as well as website materials, PhD thesis papers, UNESCO reports, etc. We take our work very seriously and this includes preparing a glossary of terms for all of our long-term clients, thereby ensuring vocabulary consistency in our work. As part of our proofreading process, we complete QA (quality assurance) tests prior to delivery to ensure completeness.

Localisation

Localisation (also known as ‘L10n’) is the process of adapting a text, document or website linguistically, regionally and culturally to suit the standards of the targeted market. This process includes dealing with certain grammatical and spelling differences within the same language (e.g. US vs UK English). In addition to translation the localisation process may include:

  • Adapting graphics
  • Adopting local currencies
  • Using proper formats for date, time, addresses and phone numbers
  • Choices of colours
  • Cultural references, etc.
  • Sizes and weights
Website localisation

Translating your website is the most cost-effective way to reach consumers on a global scale. Native-English speakers now account for less than 1/3 of the total number of global Internet users. What does this mean? If your website is only in English, you are overlooking nearly 70% of all potential consumers and a huge opportunity to exponentially increase your market share.

Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) – There are many different types of translation required and certain translation projects can be handled by translators with no subject matter expertise. Other types of translation require specialised translators who are knowledgeable in specific industries. For these industries, such as engineering, medicine, legal, healthcare, IT, the arts and others, we ensure to assign such projects to SMEs.

Transcription

Speak. provides transcription services in the form of audio and video files, this includes subtitling and time coding. We offer native-speaker level transcriptions in English and Serbian that we can later have translated into the required language, as needed by our clients. Backing our work, is an extensive amount of experience in providing transcription and translation services to international companies.
